Bleeding from the vaginal area that is not associated with a woman's monthly menstruation is considered irregular vaginal bleeding. Contact your doctor if you have persistent bleeding issues to rule out any underlying disorders. When a woman is having her period, she will have vaginal bleeding. The average duration is 4–7 days. Your doctor will do a full physical examination, including a pelvic exam, and may order blood tests, such as a blood clotting profile, to figure out what's going on with your irregular bleeding.
