Testosterone - symptoms and how to test
Humans, like many other species, produce the hormone testosterone. Testosterone is produced primarily in men's testicles. The ovaries of women also produce testosterone but in considerably lower concentrations. For men to produce sperm, testosterone is required. Low testosterone levels in the blood are typical in older men since their testosterone production naturally declines. Low amounts of testosterone affect certain males. Low testosterone levels are referred to as Testosterone Deficiency Syndrome (TD) (Low-T). The test may be necessary if you're experiencing low or high testosterone. Symptoms of low T levels typically prompt a prescription for this treatment in adult males. In women, it is often prescribed when abnormally high T levels are suspected.
