Ulcers on the stomach lining are also called gastric ulcers. Duodenal ulcers affect the region of the intestine immediately after the stomach. Anyone can have a stomach ulcer, but persons over 60 have a higher risk of complications. More males than women seem to be impacted. Gastroscopy provides a direct look into the stomach to diagnose stomach ulcers. The test involves inserting a tiny, flexible tube (an endoscope) equipped with a camera into the patient's mouth, the stomach, and the first part of the small intestine (duodenum).
