A person can be tested for STDs using a blood sample, a genital swab, or a urine sample. These include testing for genital herpes, syphilis, hepatitis B, chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and trichomoniasis.
The test results can take up to one week. Self-testing kits are available, but these must be used carefully, following instructions.
