Meningitis - symptoms and how to test

An infection of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord is called meningitis (meninges). It may affect anybody at any age, but infants, teens, and young people are most vulnerable. If meningitis is not treated immediately, it can have devastating effects. Although meningitis can affect anybody at any time, studies reveal that the following demographics are most vulnerable to contracting the disease: Preschoolers and younger kids.
