Gastritis - symptoms and how to test
Inflammation of the stomach lining is a frequent symptom of various illnesses known collectively as gastritis. Infection with the same bacteria that produces most stomach ulcers, or long-term use of some pain medicines, is the most common cause of gastritis' inflammation. Age is a major risk factor for developing gastritis. Generally speaking, gastritis affects women between the ages of 45 and 64, whereas males often get it beyond the age of 65. In order to diagnose gastritis, your doctor may order lab testing (such as a stool or breath analysis).
