Diabetes is a chronic disease of improper insulin production. It is a metabolic disorder that affects carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Diabetes is of two types. Diabetes I, primarily genetic, is an acute finding in which an autoimmune component is involved, and body cells themselves destroy pancreas insulin-producing cells.
