Presso l’ambulatorio di Cardiologia si esegue anche l’Elettrocardiogramma sotto sforzo. Questo test consiste nel pedalare su una cyclette, che aumenta progressivamente la resistenza dei pedali, sotto monitoraggio continuo elettrocardiografico e pressorio. Questo test, attraverso modificazioni dell’ECG, della frequenza cardiaca e della pressione arteriosa consente di porre diagnosi di: ischemia inducibile da sforzo, soglia ischemica (ischemia elettrocardiografica), soglia d’angor (livello di sforzo a cui compare il dolore), eventuale compromissione funzionale del cuore, interessamento ischemico del sistema elettrico di conduzione del cuore con la comparsa di aritmie/blocchi di conduzione, efficacia della terapia anti-ischemica e/o anti-ipertensiva in atto. L’esame avrà una durata indicativa dai 6 ai 12 minuti circa. La fase di recupero è di durata variabile.
