Anogenital warts - symptoms and how to test

Small lumps that manifest anywhere on or near the genitalia or the urethra are called anogenital warts. The human papillomavirus is the causative agent in these cases. This virus family has more than a hundred recognized subtypes. Both type 6 and type 11 are responsible for the vast majority of anogenital warts. Most anogenital warts are spread sexually; therefore, they tend to appear in young people between the ages of 15 and 30. A biopsy is required if lesions are unusual and can confirm a diagnosis of anogenital warts, which are often diagnosed by visual inspection.
